The day of the iPhone!

29 Jun 2007 | Tagged as: Apple

Right now big lines of people are waiting for the first shipment of iPhones in the US and you can look at the pictures on Flickr or videos from YouTube to see the enormous interest for this phone. Justin.tv is helping Gizmodo to cover this historic day live if you are that interested in what´s going on right now.

It’s still to early to know for sure that the iPhone will be the success that Apple is counting on, but when Apple announced the battery life many critics were proven wrong. According to GeekBrief here is the expected battery life depending on different uses:

* 8 hours of talk.
* 6 hours of surfing the Internet.
* 7 hours of video watching.
* 24 hours of listening to music.
* 250 hours stand by.

Pretty impressive considering the large screen and the fact that the phone is actually running OS X.

Another thing that has been criticised is the fact that there will be no real third party applications at launch. But this might just be a precaution to make sure that Apple have total control over the user experience and reliability when the phone comes out. Later on they might decide to open up the phone more than just letting developers use Safari and Ajax to create applications for the iPhone.
